a smile that will melt your heart...
max and keegan are both smiling (on purpose) now. what a treat! i have said this before, but God really gives you what you need when you need it. these endless months of less than restful nights are starting to take a toll on me and this week having these two creatures smile up at me was just what i needed. i will work on capturing it on film this week to share with all.
on another (less smiley) note, we have just about finalized all the insurance bills. this has taken numerous phone calls just to get people to actually bill things the way they are supposed to bill them. all totaled the bills are in the ballpark of $200,000.00 for my two hospital stays and the nicu stays for the boys combined. thankfully we have great insurance coverage and are not responsible for much more than $100 copay for each hospital stay. i really feel for those people who are not fortunate enough to have insurance - a life event like we went through could totally ruin a family financially.
tomorrow is the first st. patricks day for max and keegan. we are going to celebrate with corned beef and cabbage and maybe even some green beer!

3 months old!
one day recently i was holding max and when i looked down at his head i had this flashback of the times when he had an IV in his head - poor guy. both keegan and max had a hard time keeping the IVs in one spot. their little veins could only take the IV for a day or so, then they had to move it to a new spot. the worst spot was the head - supposedly it didnt hurt them, but it just looked soo uncomfortable and made it hard to snuggle up with them. it is weird how these memories get triggered. but as i sit here on their 3 month birthday i am just soo grateful that they are such happy and healthy boys. we are truly blessed to have them in our lives. just look how they have grown.

a weighty issue
today was the next round of RSV shots for max and keegan - both did great! the fun part was getting them weighed. keegan, my great eater, has surpassed his big brother. keegan now weighs 10lb 3 oz and max weighs 9 lbs 12 oz. poor max has some reflux issues that keep him from being the great eater that keegan has been. but the upside, is that he is a happy baby - soo much so that at this point they dont want to treat the reflux (other than the special formula we are using). it was a good visit. granny helped me out all day, which was soo nice. i got a nap!! and went to the grocery store unaccompanied. its 9:12 and all my boys are tucked in bed - granted jon will probably fall asleep before any of the other boys, but that is ok.

first snowman!!
i dont know how he made it to 3.5 years old and never built a snowman, but here is the first one! can you tell fin is proud?! (he had a little help from daddy) resourceful mommy provided the maraschino cherries (one of the few condiments that didnt get pitched after the last storm) for the eyes and of course a carrot for the nose.

MOMs group rocks
i think i mentioned before that i joined the local mothers of multiples club. well, last night was a new member celebration. it was such a nice evening. i met some great women and am looking forward to getting to know them all better. the MOMs group is fantastic - i cant say enough good things about them. they have been soo supportive already from visits to the hospital, delivering homemade meals, a fantastic yard sale twice a year, etc. the list goes on and on. one of the great features is that each mom gets a big sister - and mine is great. she brought me some yummy chocolate chip cookies last night just to say welcome to the club - thanks k!!
today was kind of a lazy day. fin had school, so the morning was hectic getting everyone up and out the door. but the rest of the day was restful. check out some recent pictures of the boys - they are getting soo big! we go next week for our next RSV vaccine and i cant wait to see how much they weigh.
(clearly, i have bored max to tears here, pictured in blue)

fin is regaining interest in all manner of "baby" toys
