seeing stars*

this past weekend was the long awaited girls weekend and i have to say it lived up to the hype. last year around this time i heard some of the other mothers of multiples (MOMs) talking about going to convention and how much fun it was. i knew i couldnt get away last year with the boys barely being 4 months old - but this year i was in. it was a blast.

the convention was in roanoke and the theme was "hollywood stars". the roanoke MOMs did a great job planning - everything was covered. i got a massage, slept in a wonderfully comfortable bed in a beautiful hotel within walking distance to shopping, saw an elvis impersonator sing about 8 songs i never heard in my life, sang karaoke, ate and drank (both to excess), but most importantly i spent the weekend hanging out with some fantastic moms. after all, isnt that was a MOMs weekend should be all about?!

*roanoke is a cute little town. it's claim to fame is the largest freestanding illuminated man-made star.

reaching new heights

m. has decided he can no longer show off enough by mere walking - now he needs to climb anything and everything, nailed down or not. his favorite thing to climb is the step stool that j. uses as a dinner seat (have i mentioned we are outgrowing our house and our kitchen doesnt contain our family for meals in a proper manner?!). m. pushes this stool everywhere he can and climbs up on it to get to whatever he is not tall enough to reach on his own. he hasnt figured out how to push the stool onto the carpeted area of the family room yet, so in a pinch he will rely on this toy. watch this video and you can see him mid-climb trying to get closer what we affectionately refer to as baby crack, aka baby einstein.

also, k. has finally decided enough of m. showing off, its about time he took steps. don't blink you might miss it. however, you cant miss the look of satisfaction on his little face!

feeling blessed

i am feeling so blessed today on this my thirty-ahemth birthday! i have such great friends and family who have made this day a really great one already- and its not even 3pm! so far i have gotten e-cards, email wishes, phone calls galore, presents and cards in the mail, two hand delivered presents and even a wonderful handmade card from f. which read "to mommy" it has a huge sunflower on it and is signed "fin v." in case there was any confusion about which f. it was from i suppose. 4 year olds are cute!

since i plan on sticking with this age for a few years, i would have to say it has been a great year so far! j. even called and said they finally hired someone for the position he has been forced into for the last several months! wow, even the federal government got be a b-day present!! yay me!!

spring fever

late this winter i had predicted that this spring would be bringing out home buyers if not in droves, or at the very least a few trickling ones that love, love, love our home. instead last night at 1 am i was awakened by a completely different kind of spring fever - croup! i guess i shouldn't complain, because we have had a relatively calm winter, after the spa outing that is.

last night at 1am i did things like crawl on the floor of the boys closet digging out the nebulizer and humidifier; suction more snot than any child should be able to contain in their itty bitty body; and mix up juicy water concoctions for barking children. poor max and keegan! from what i remember about croup - it gets worse before it gets better. yay, what a happy birthday this is looking like it will be. so after everyone was settled back into bed and i finally pulled the comforter back around my exhausted self i hear jon say "you know, if we have croupy babies next weekend you are not leaving for your girls weekend?!" as i drifted back off to sleep i had to remind myself that because of these children i have met some truly amazing people. spring fever or not, i love them with all my heart.

how many times?

i hung up the phone this weekend after telling the realtor, "sure we would love to leave our house between 5:30-6PM so you can show your clients our house another time", and then i got to thinking. just how many times does one need to see a house before deciding this is the house for them? both times we bought houses, we spent probably 1 hour total in the house before making an offer. that was the sum of two quick visits on days that we saw about 10 other houses. and somehow we knew. but these potential home buyers have been through our house 3 times - yes THREE!! i am hoping that we get an offer sometime soon. each time the feedback is the same: "my client really likes the house, they just arent sure they are ready to make an offer yet" i swear if they schedule another showing i am going to charge admission! as much as i am ready to sell this house i am still in a quandry about where we will end up. could get pretty interesting around here soon folks, stay tuned...
