a weighty issue
today was the next round of RSV shots for max and keegan - both did great! the fun part was getting them weighed. keegan, my great eater, has surpassed his big brother. keegan now weighs 10lb 3 oz and max weighs 9 lbs 12 oz. poor max has some reflux issues that keep him from being the great eater that keegan has been. but the upside, is that he is a happy baby - soo much so that at this point they dont want to treat the reflux (other than the special formula we are using). it was a good visit. granny helped me out all day, which was soo nice. i got a nap!! and went to the grocery store unaccompanied. its 9:12 and all my boys are tucked in bed - granted jon will probably fall asleep before any of the other boys, but that is ok.

first snowman!!
i dont know how he made it to 3.5 years old and never built a snowman, but here is the first one! can you tell fin is proud?! (he had a little help from daddy) resourceful mommy provided the maraschino cherries (one of the few condiments that didnt get pitched after the last storm) for the eyes and of course a carrot for the nose.

MOMs group rocks
i think i mentioned before that i joined the local mothers of multiples club. well, last night was a new member celebration. it was such a nice evening. i met some great women and am looking forward to getting to know them all better. the MOMs group is fantastic - i cant say enough good things about them. they have been soo supportive already from visits to the hospital, delivering homemade meals, a fantastic yard sale twice a year, etc. the list goes on and on. one of the great features is that each mom gets a big sister - and mine is great. she brought me some yummy chocolate chip cookies last night just to say welcome to the club - thanks k!!
today was kind of a lazy day. fin had school, so the morning was hectic getting everyone up and out the door. but the rest of the day was restful. check out some recent pictures of the boys - they are getting soo big! we go next week for our next RSV vaccine and i cant wait to see how much they weigh.
(clearly, i have bored max to tears here, pictured in blue)

a valentine from the electric company
5:30 AM on valentines day, i am awakened by the sound of silence - oh joy, the power went out. we had a really bad ice storm here and lost power. based on experience, we packed our bags and headed to granny and pops. we went through a similar experience when fin was about 9 or 10 weeks old with hurricane isabel. we lost power for 3 days that time. this time we didn't get power back until friday!! there is nothing like changing diapers by candlelight. fortunately, my parents are closeby and welcomed the company. it was great to have a change of location with the boys since the only place we have been with max and keegan is the doctors office. and fin loves spending time at granny and pops house - he even got to sleep in their bed with them. anyway, we are back home now and online again.
so here i sit with a baby in the bjorn and one next to me in the swing. its been a quiet day, filled with things like throwing everything in the refrigerator in the trash. tonight we are going to move max and keegan into the nursery for the first time. wish us luck!

you know you have cabin fever when...
you know you have cabin fever when a preschoolers valentines party passes as a social engagement! actually, it was a cute party. fin had a good time, so by proxy, i did as well! and as a bonus he even took a nap this afternoon. of course as a result, it is 9pm and he is still wide awake! oh well, maybe he will sleep-in tomorrow.
we had snow today and granny babysat for the first time so i wouldnt have to drag max and keegan out in all this mess. she did a great job, but we both had a laugh when i got back and she said she had gotten herself into a predicament. she was holding both boys and wasnt really sure how to put one down without disturbing the other. i guess its a good thing we got home when we did. ;-) seriously though, it was great to be able to go to fin's party and know that max and keegan were in such good hands. thanks granny!
we are getting freezing rain now. with any luck, jon will get the day off tomorrow as well. hopefully the roads will be cleared up in short order and i can get out a bit in the afternoon.

original due date
i woke up today wondering what it would be like if these guys had not been born until today - i can't even imagine! today, february 8, 2007, was the original due date for max and keegan. in the preemie world where there is an actual age (based on birth date) and a corrected age (based on the due date) technically speaking, max and keegan are on their 1st day of life. it is crazy to think about it like that, when they have been here for 9 weeks already! they are probably close to 8lbs (if not already 8 lbs). we are soo lucky to have these two precious boys in our lives.
it has been a long 9 weeks in some respects. it seems like forever ago that i woke jon up saying 'i think i am having contractions' on the eve of their birth. i was soo disappointed when we got to the hospital and they said, not only are you having contractions, but they are every 2-3 minutes! i felt like somehow i had let these two little boys down - or at least my body did. i was also worried about what fin was going to think when he woke up, and i had disappeared overnight. those memories feel like a long time ago.
remembering the first times i held keegan and max, it seems like only yesterday. as hard as the past several weeks have been, they have made us stronger as a family. it is great to be here at the original due date, with two fantastic babies already 9 weeks old!
