original due date

i woke up today wondering what it would be like if these guys had not been born until today - i can't even imagine! today, february 8, 2007, was the original due date for max and keegan. in the preemie world where there is an actual age (based on birth date) and a corrected age (based on the due date) technically speaking, max and keegan are on their 1st day of life. it is crazy to think about it like that, when they have been here for 9 weeks already! they are probably close to 8lbs (if not already 8 lbs). we are soo lucky to have these two precious boys in our lives.

it has been a long 9 weeks in some respects. it seems like forever ago that i woke jon up saying 'i think i am having contractions' on the eve of their birth. i was soo disappointed when we got to the hospital and they said, not only are you having contractions, but they are every 2-3 minutes! i felt like somehow i had let these two little boys down - or at least my body did. i was also worried about what fin was going to think when he woke up, and i had disappeared overnight. those memories feel like a long time ago.

remembering the first times i held keegan and max, it seems like only yesterday. as hard as the past several weeks have been, they have made us stronger as a family. it is great to be here at the original due date, with two fantastic babies already 9 weeks old!
